And just like that, summer is coming to a close

Photo by Jonathan Petersson from Pexels I know, I know. Don't get me wrong. I'm not ready for summer to be over, either. This year has been such a strange, stressful time for all of us, a year outside of time and normalcy. But some things persist, and cooler mornings are one of them.Still, hopefully we have a few weeks of warmer weather left before fall is in full swing, and I know I feel incredibly lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world. In times like these when so much is uncertain, it's more important than ever to be...
Happy Mother's Day!

As regular readers will recall, I've been fortunate to live a life surrounded by amazing women. My grandmother, who came to this country as an immigrant, would walk the prairies with her two daughters while she sewed, quilted, and embroidered. She would later teach me these same skills, and it's her that I credit with my ongoing love of these arts.My own mother worked tirelessly to ensure that myself and my siblings were always well taken care of and felt loved. Given how many of us there were, this was certainly no small feat! In these difficult and unprecedented times, I'm sure...
The Easter Bunny is almost here!

Well, Easter certainly looks a bit different this year than I think most of us imagined it would, but that's no reason not to celebrate. After all, across the globe, world leaders are deeming the Easter Bunny an essential worker with special dispensation and privileges. In all seriousness, even in these frightening times, there is room for magic and wonder, and not just for the little ones in your life, but for all of us.As a reminder to myself, I've decided to share with all of you a photo of my lovely niece, Holley. I'm so proud of the woman she's...

Stay safe, stay indoors and remember to wash your hands Photo by Pixabay from Pexels It's an uncertain and frightening time. There's no other way to put it.I'm sure you've all had your inboxes flooded with COVID-19 updates. I know I certainly have, and between the emails and the 24 hour news cycle, I've been feeling drained and overwhelmed. Our way of life has been completely upended in a matter of weeks. It is, to put it mildly, a lot to process. However, even during these difficult times, we must remember that there's so much to hope for, to be grateful for. As a result of this...
Happy New Year!

Photo by cottonbro from Pexels My goodness, what a year 2019 was! I know for many of us, myself included, it was a year of high highs and low lows, and it seems incredible how much happened in only a year. If I'm being honest, I'm still exhausted. Not only do we now embark on a new year, but a new decade entirely. I can't help but reflect on all the experiences I've had, both challenging and wonderful, that made up the last one.I am so enormously grateful for the life that I have, for the privilege of doing what I love, and to...
